Murdo Mitchell is a Scottish singer-songwriter whose work is rooted in the tradition of the travelling troubadour, shaped as much by the road as by the studio. He began busking on the streets of Glasgow at just ten years old, developing an instinct for performance that continues to define him: direct, unfiltered, and deeply human.

Years of relentless live playing have carried him across the UK and Europe, building a reputation as a compelling and emotionally precise performer. His most recent run of shows saw over 5,000 tickets sold, a FULL SOLD OUT run of 14 shows, a reflection of an audience grown organically through word of mouth and the strength of his live presence.

Mitchell’s trajectory has been marked by collaborations and moments that speak quietly but clearly to his standing. He has shared stages and worked alongside artists such as Glen Hansard, including a duet performance at the London Palladium as well as KT Tunstall and the legendary Donovan, who remarked: “He has what I had at his age; the hunger to communicate.” He has also toured the United States supporting John Vincent III, and performed alongside artists including Starsailor and Kelly Jones (Stereophonics) & many more.

His 2024 EP, produced by Chris Bond, known for his work with Ben Howard, saw Mitchell further refine a sound that sits in the orbit of indie folk. While his sound sits in the orbit of indie folk and modern Americana, Mitchell resists easy categorisation. His songs balance raw, lyrical immediacy with a sense of space and restraint, drawing listeners in rather than reaching outward.

Alongside his independent growth as a touring artist, he has also secured a publishing deal, marking a new phase in his development as a songwriter.

Now dividing his time between the UK and the US, Mitchell is currently recording his debut album in Los Angeles, with further live dates set to be announced.
